The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has commended the courage and dedication of frontline troops of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State.
This was stated in a press release provided to Defence Correspondents in Abuja by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu.
According to the statement, the COAS spoke at a Christmas luncheon organized for the gallant troops of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI.
The statement highlighted that the COAS emphasized the significance of the festive gathering in fostering camaraderie and providing troops with a sense of family celebrations despite being away from home.
He praised the soldiers for their sacrifices in combating terror networks and violent extremist groups, underscoring their vital role in maintaining national unity, peace, and security.

General Oluyede encouraged the troops to renew their commitment to defeating adversaries as the country prepares for 2025, with the aim of creating a peaceful environment conducive to socio-economic development.
He reiterated his command philosophy of enhancing personnel welfare, pledging to consolidate ongoing initiatives and introduce new programs to motivate troops and strengthen their dedication to duty.
The COAS also conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commendation and the nation’s gratitude to the soldiers for their service. He urged them to draw inspiration from the season’s themes of love, hope, and renewal.
The statement further mentioned that, in a goodwill message, Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, represented by Dr. Bukar Tijani, commended the troops’ efforts in restoring peace to the state and the North East.
The governor paid tribute to fallen soldiers and assured continued support for military operations aimed at stabilizing the region.
According to the statement, the Theatre Commander, Major General Waidi Shuaibu, remarked that the luncheon offered an opportunity to reflect on the past year’s achievements and challenges. He expressed appreciation to the COAS for his recent visits to the frontlines, which have boosted troop morale.
In a further demonstration of his commitment to troop welfare, General Oluyede laid the foundation for two 30-family accommodation blocks at Maimalari Cantonment before departing Maiduguri.
