Bauchi State Police Command had in continuation of its community policing based approach in tackling acts of insecurity and criminally in the state as well as check herders/farmers clashes, held an interactive meeting with leaders of the various Fulani socio-cultural groups across the state.
While speaking during the meeting held at Police Officers’ Mess, Bauchi on Saturday, the Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani Ahmad said that the participants were drawn from all the Fulani socio-cultural groups including Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Sammeru Fulbe and Tabital Fulako among others.
He said that the Fulani and other villagers who reside in remote areas face more security threats hence the need to enlighten them on security tips so that they will be able to identify criminals amongst themselves.
He also called on the Fulani leaders to be wary of the people they accommodate in their villages and report suspicious movements to the Police and other security agencies for prompt action.

Habu Sani who said that community-based approach of policing is a global practice ineffective policing urged all his Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to also adopt the system in their various areas.
The Commissioner of Police then opined that partnering with communities in crime management will help in ensuring a peaceful society and commended them for honouring the invitation.
All the Fulani socio-cultural leaders in attendance at the meeting agreed that community policing is the best approach to insecurity considering the fact members of the various communities know themselves and can easily detect strange faces in their midst.
They then assured the Police Commissioner of their cooperation in ensuring a crime-free society just as they advised that criminals should not be treated with kid gloves when apprehended.
