PAY TV network, Star Times Nigeria, has attributed its continued growth and expansion across the African markets to its dogged commitment to innovation, superior technology and rich entertainment program for viewers.
The company’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Tunde Aina, who stated this recently also disclosed that one of the key ambitions of the pay tv channel is to be an international media giant with global influence.
According to him, the pay tv network which started with two countries in Africa, had continued to grow stronger in over thirty countries.
“We have continued to grow stronger and cover more grounds across Africa starting with two countries and now in over thirty countries and very active in over 15.
“Our success story is fuelled by a strong belief and investment in cutting edge technology, life-enriching innovations and quality television entertainment content for our viewing families and households,” he added.
He stated that in seven years, the paytv platform had enabled more people enjoy digital television which, hitherto, had been the exclusive preserve of the affluent, adding the platform had also given opportunities to many local channels to start broadcasting localised content at minimal cost.
With this initiative, he added, the pay tv platform had been able to create more than 2000 direct jobs and more than 20,000 indirect jobs.
The StarTimes boss added that as the pioneer of digital terrestrial television operator in Nigeria, StarTimes had made pay-tv much more accessible and affordable to the low and middle income class which comprise of a greater part of the Nigerian population, with digital terrestrial signals in more than 80 towns spread across 34 states of the federation.
