The Inner Wheel Club, Bodija, Oyo State recently decorated Dr (Mrs) Abiola Okanlawon as its new president.
Okanlawon, an entrepreneur, will run the affairs of the club for the next one year.
In her acceptance speech, Okanlawon said she is humbled by the trust the club members have reposed in her, just as she promised to build on her predecessors’ achievements.
Okanlawon also lauded her predecessors for their contributions to the development of the club.
The new president said having been an active member of the club for three years, she has firsthand knowledge of the impact that Inner Wheel Club has done for communities in Oyo State.
“As I assume the office, I want to express my gratitude to our past presidents, including the immediate one for their dedicated leadership.
“Under their guidance, we have grown our membership, expanded our reach and raised funds to support our charitable initiatives.
“My vision as your new president is to build on the foundation that past presidents had laid,” she said.
In her remarks, the immediate past president, Olufunmilola Odeyemi, sought continued support for the new executive members so as to surpass the achievements she recorded while in office.
Chairman of the occasion, Major-General Oladayo Popoola (retd) urged the club to invite other women in the society to join them and ensure the wellbeing of the children.
In her lecture, Dr Bridget Awosika from Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo encouraged people to focus on eradicating domestic violence.
