THE Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Monday, said all the infrastructural development plans for the state is beyond the completion of his two term tenure in office.
He said the massive road constructions spread across the length and breadth of the state would be completed and would exist for more than 50 years, if maintained by successive governments.
The governor said this while fielding questions from newsmen during the inspection of roads in all the three senatorial districts that the roads would boost economic activities of the state.
Amosun, had stepped the 2017 Democracy Rally to inspect projects and commissioned the new MITROS Residences in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Various stakeholders in the state, including the Civil Society Organisations, professional bodies and artisans joined the governor on the tour which started by 7.00a.m.
The governor noted that the 110 kilometer Ilara-Ijoun-Egua-Oja-Odan and Ilase road ought to have been completed, but for paucity of fund, the project was a bit delayed.
He said that contractors had been mobilized back to site to complete the project which linked four local government areas, Yewa South, Yewa North, Ipokia and Imeko-Afon, and the Republic of Benin.
Amosun said the road is important because it leads to one of the agricultural belts of the state and would aid accessibility of commuters.
Tribune Online learnt that only 10 km of the road had been asphalted.
Explaining the rationale behind his concentration on construction of bridges and flyover, Amosun said, “We are looking into the next 50 years and not now. I don’t know anybody who would want to do anything on this road in the next 100 years after what we’re doing now.”
The governor added that three bridges and four flyovers would be commissioned in the next two months, submitting that they are all standard projects that could stand the time.
“Our flyovers and bridges are not just ordinary, they are of Ogun standard. Three bridges and four flyovers will be ready for commissioning in the next two months. Engineers are abound in the country, they should evaluate them. Our forefathers left good legacies and we must not drop the ball,” he said further.
The train proceeded to Ado-Odo/Ota, Sagamu, Ago-Iwoye, Ilisan, Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-Igbo and back to Abeokuta to commission the MITROS residences.
