INEC voters register has no reflection in lgbo’s population ― Ohanaeze

A chieftain of the Igbo social-cultural organization, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Chris Eluemuno, has said that the recent release of voters registers in each state of the country for the 2019 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has no reflection in the population strength of the southeastern region.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent in Awka, the Anambra State Capital, the former Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Anambra state, explained that the INEC released is just an electoral figure and not population figures for each region of the country.
He noted that in northern Nigeria, the Igbo’s has 15million population and in Lagos along in the south-west, the Igbo’s contributed about 4million population. So the electoral figures have nothing to do with Igbo’s population strength.
“With that been told, you know the Igbo’s are spread across the nook and cranny of this country and the constitution of Nigeria let us understand that as a citizen of Nigeria, once you attained the age of 18 years, you are qualified to register and obtained a voters card in respective of where your residence is.
He urges the Igbo’s at home and abroad not to be panic with the electoral figures and come out en masse to vote who will restructure the country and address the trending security issues in Nigeria.
