Kogi-west senatorial district, Senator Dino Melaye
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday commenced the recall of the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district, Dino Melaye, by pasting the notice of verification for the recall exercise.
This is coming despite an order of a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja which directed the commission to maintain status quo.
The Notice of Verification was posted at the state secretariat and the Lokoja local government office of INEC to inform the electorate.
The notice signed by chairman of the commission, Mahmood Yakubu, and dated 10th July 2017, read, ” In accordance with section 69 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) notice is hereby given that the verification for the recall of the member representing Kogi West senatorial district shall hold on the 19th August, 2017.”
The commission also stated in the notice that the verification to recall the senator would be held between 8:00am-2:00pm of August 19.
