The Niger State Police Command has announced that it has deployed an adequate number of police personnel and operational assets to ensure public safety and orderliness in view of the October 1st Independence Day celebration.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated this on Monday in a press statement issued and made available to journalists in Minna.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has directed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and DPOs to enhance police visibility in their respective areas to prevent any breach of public peace.

The statement also mentioned that the Command had earlier engaged labor leaders, trade unions, youth and student leaders, and other critical stakeholders to ensure and maintain the relative peace needed for economic growth and development in the state.

Wasiu Abiodun said, “Therefore, all hands have been on deck,” highlighting that it has been a collaborative effort and emphasising that together, they will continue to create a peaceful atmosphere for businesses to thrive in society.

Meanwhile, “The Commissioner of Police wishes all Nigerlites and residents of the state a Happy Independence Celebration and urges everyone to shun any act of violence, as the police and other security agencies will not tolerate any breach of public peace,” the statement concluded.
