Not many people gave fast-rising movie maker and actress, Abiola Oyewole a chance when she stepped into Nollywood as a rookie as actress who turned movie-maker later.
But in her latest flick, Awijare, the rising star said she gave her all into the new flick not because she didn’t believe in her talent but she wanted to show the movie world how much she has grown and mastered her craft.
Speaking about the journey and how she has pulled through against all odds, she stated that she has always been fascinated by acting but deep down in her heart, she knew she could do more and give more to the job.
In her new movie, Awijare released this year, Oyewole said many people didn’t believe she could pull off such masterpiece
Having featured in “A day in the sun” and “Ija odola”, the movie star tar has been a bona fide Nollywood star for over a decade, but as a performer, she always felt there was something more to do.
“There have been plenty of performances that I just just had to go extra in because I knew I could bring more to the entire perception of the story,” she said.
According to her, she has always leaned toward work that felt uneasy, unfamiliar, and uncomfortable.
She knew how to draw a crowd, and how to make something hit big. But going to those deep, dark places unlike many actors around her. Either she didn’t know how to take the easy path, or she was just crazy.
Oyewole added that “It’s like we’re meeting a new actor, with the same star power that holds the camera’s attention, but with a riveting, fresh feel for complexity and toughness, and empathy, from the inside out.”
