Ideas that will add an enduring VALUE to generations unborn do always come through the womb of failure! Additionally, on the condition that you cannot stand to fail and keep failing without giving up, you cannot add an enduring value to the world. Remember, history makers and world changers are rare men and women—who are resilient and would never give up as an effect of temporary set-back and failure.
Over the years, I have come to understand that my greatest jewels reside in the womb of failure, not success. And my life and leadership have become so thick because I have failed many times before getting to where I am today. Furthermore, each time I am talking to the younger generation of Nigerians, I like teaching them from my failure more than from my success. Why do I do this? I do this, because I want them to see that the pathway to success is failure.
Besides, when we were toddlers, it was a huge thing of shame to tell folks that we failed in those days. Those who failed in those days were not popular and classy. And only those who passed at school had many friends, even if they crammed those subjects. Those who failed (some of them were intelligent, but they just were not good at cramming) were loners.
For the umpteenth time, while we were in both primary and secondary schools, we loved to hang out with those who passed but hated to hang out with those who failed. But over the years, I have come to understand that passing a subject does not mean that one is intelligent and failing a subject that one is not intelligent. Remember, it is possible to be a success in school and later fail in life. You can pass a subject by either cramming or understanding it!
Learning from history, the man (Thomas Edison) who invented the light bulb made 1000 unsuccessful attempts. He made one thousand (1000) unsuccessful attempts? Back home here, once people fail twice here, deliverance would be strongly recommended. The African man does not know how to fail. And this is the major reason we are not birthing much value.
If Thomas Edison were to be a Nigerian, we would have told him that he was suffering from an ancestral curse! We would have told him that the devil was responsible for his one thousand (1000) unsuccessful attempts. It is this faulty mindset that has wrongly and largely contributed to where we are as a people. Now, we have raised a spineless generation that wants to become successful without drinking from the glass-cup of failure.
How many people in this generation can afford to make unsuccessful attempts while pursuing an idea without giving up? Thomas Edison was resilient and what he birthed will forever be a blessing to the whole world. Buddy, how many times have you failed while developing an idea that you birthed some years ago? I have come to tell you today that you should not give up on the idea. If you will keep at it, real soon, it will become a reality, adding value to the whole world.
People are not all knowing and all seeing like God. They cannot get to know what you do have on the inside of you until you skillfully bring it out and show them. Talk to relevant folks on what you are loaded with. Many will reject you, but a few people will say yes to you. So do not just sit with your arms folded, thinking that things do happen on their own. Nothing just happens without making them happen. There are too many people who need what you do have, but it is your onus to skillfully tell them.
The more people reject you, the more people you should talk to folks about your vision. You do not allow those who do not like what you are loaded with let you get discouraged. One of the major things we pioneers daily move against is discouragement. We do not let it stop us. So do not let it stop you. Today, I have come to encourage you to keep speaking about it in a way that will make folks fall in love with it. You shall are becoming a success!
I remember what transpired during my National Youth Service Corps Program. We were told during the normal three weeks in Camp Exercise that people rejecting us while searching for our places of primary assignment did not mean that something wrong was happening to us. This information helped us to keep moving when schools and companies began to reject us one by one while trying to serve the general public. The rest they say is history.
One of the challenges of the African man is that he does not know how to handle rejection. Each time we are rejected, we do wrongly think that it is from the devil, so we fight many needless battles. And just because you were rejected twice while running with your vision does not mean you have an ancestral curse. Ignorance can be so deadly. This is why it is good to read through the biographies of successful men—who have gone before you. Seeing what those who went ahead of you went through would help you a great deal. Reading through the biographies of men and women who are relevant to my field of purpose has helped me a lot in life.
When you are just pioneering an idea, many folks rejecting you—have nothing to do with a demonic attack. It is not abnormal. Sanders and Disney were rejected over 600 times by folks! Today, what they pioneered are still with us. So being rejected by folks is a sign that your idea will work in the days to come. Buddy, keep pressing on. Do not try to attempt to give up.
Lastly, you can never be a successful pioneer especially in a nation as Nigeria without being resilient. Pioneers do get knocked down, but they do not stay down. Failure is transitory. And it isn’t wrong to fail. Remember, the pathway to an enduring success is failure!
