Impact positively on society so as to be remembered, cleric tells Nigerians

Published by

NIGERIANS, especially Christians, have been urged to leave a good lifestyle worthy of emulation and impact on the society positively during their sojourn on earth.

The Assistant Priest of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oke Bola, Ibadan, Oyo State, Reverend Father Christopher Olupooye, said this during a thanksgiving service organised by the 1978/83 Set of students of St. Theresa College as part of activities marking their 40th anniversary.

“We should support one another. It is a moment to reflect on the impact of the 1978/83Set on the school and the larger society.  We should learn how to care for others as Christians as God cares for His people,’’ the cleric said.

The priest urged Christian faithful to examine themselves on their contributions to the needy, family, the society and humanity in general.

“During the judgment day, God will not base His judgment on your active participation in church activities, but on your actions. God will separate those who performed well and those who did bad. Those who performed well will inherit eternal life. We should be good to one another. We should allow the spirit of God to direct us,’’ he said.

The occasion was also used to pray for leaders across the country for God to give them wisdom in directing the affairs of the nation well.
