#ImoDecides2023: APC’s Uzodimma wins with 540,308 votes

The gubernatorial election in Imo State saw a resounding victory for the incumbent Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hope Uzodimma, as he emerged triumphant in all 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state with 540, 308 votes.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Uzodimma scored a total of 540,008 to sweep all 27 LGAs.

The collation of the results has been concluded.

While the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, got a total of 71,503 votes across the state according to the results announced by the electoral umpire to come in a distant second, the Labour Party candidate, Athan Achonu, garnered a total of 64,081 votes.

The state returning officer for the election, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oye, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, announced an hour break to enable him to compute the final result and declare the winner of the election.

The Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party have called for a total cancellation of the poll.

They alleged that security agents allegedly connived with INEC staff to allow members of the APC to rig the election.

Below are the top five results in the state election:

Hope Uzodimma (APC): 540,308 votes.

Samuel Anyanwu (PDP): 71,503 votes

Athan Achonu (LP): 64,081 votes

Tony Ejiogu (APGA): 6,392 votes.

Jack Ogunewe (AA): 5,756 votes
