The Managing Director of the Agency Barr Peter Ezeobi, disclosed this in Owerri during the inauguration of 1,000 workers cum flagging off of the scheme.
He said that in the interim, the Agency would be commencing its operations with the newly inaugurated 1,000 workers in the state
Ezeobi who noted that revenue generation is one of the aims of the Agency, however, emphasised that the overriding objectives of the Agency were the creation of employment and making the state the cleanest nationwide.
He said that it was for that reason that the governor gave subvention to the office.
Speaking at the event, Head, Revenue Generation, Business Development and Mobilization, Patrick Njoku, said the targeted jobs would come from the over two hundred revenue subheads as contained in the law establishing the agency.
He noted that the Agency was a creation of Imo State Law No 5 of 2020 as passed by the State House of Assembly and assented to by Governor Hope Uzodinma, pointing out that the enabling law for purposes of revenue generation listed hundreds of revenue subheads which, would in turn yield thousands of sustainable jobs for Imo youths.
Njoku lauded Governor Uzodinma for approving the take-off of the important agency, because of his desire to create employment for the Imo people and to return the lost glory of the state as the cleanest city in the country.
He also commended the state House of Assembly for providing legal teeth for the Agency, while thanking the MD of ISWAMA, Ezeobi, for his dexterity and capacity in driving the Agency’s objectives of a cleaner state and job creation.
Adding his voice, the Chairman Imo House of Assembly Committee on Internally Generated Revenue, Eddy Obinna, lauded the one thousand youths for emerging pioneer staff of the outfit.
Obinna representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency also poured encomiums on the governor for his proactive leadership of the state which had been buttressed by the coming to life of ISAWAMA.
He urged the workers to strive to give the people satisfactory services, stressing that people would willingly pay for services rendered satisfactorily.
Governor Uzodimma, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Youths, Eric Uwakwe, said the inauguration was practical proof of the governor’s love for youths and the people of the state.
He charged the pioneer staff to, not only strive for excellence and value addition to both citizens and government while working but, more importantly, to give the job a human face by treating people courteously and respectfully.
