Imo govt to partner with Peter Obi Foundation for youths training

The Imo State government has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Peter Obi Foundation to ensure comprehensive training for youth in skills acquisition and other empowerment programs.

Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu, the Special Adviser/Head of the Political Bureau to the Governor of Imo State, made this statement over the weekend during the official launch of the Umunwaku Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Centre in Obogwe – Umunwaku, Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of Imo State.

Representing Governor Hope Uzodimma at the event, Onuegbu hailed the centre as an exemplary initiative aimed at empowering the youth through skills acquisition. He highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering the youth, citing the establishment of skill acquisition centres across the state with the goal of training 30,000 youths in various skills and digital acquisition programs.

He said: “The Umunwaku centre has shown a clear departure from that of the state government, the government requires a partnership that will help that will give people best acquisition”.

While commending the founder of the centre for bringing the centre home for people to benefit from, he said that the centre will provide an ample opportunity for the youth to learn skills that will uplift their life in feature.

In his opening speech, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Charles Orie represented by the Co-ordinator of the event, Chief Goody Esom Obodo described the day as remarkable in the life of the people of Umunwaku community.

He said that the empowerment/skill center is the first of its kind in the entire oil-bearing council area of Ohaji/Egbema, which according to him will help in training a good number of jobless youths in the area

Also speaking, the Chairman CEO of African Primary Health Care Foundation, based in America, Dr. Iheanacho Emeruwa said that the foundation which is in partnership with Obi Foundation who happened to be owner of Umunwaku- Skill center was motivated by the Covi-19 pandemic that occured in Nigeria.
