The people, who were intercepted in three trailer trucks heading towards the south, were handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Lokoja.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that the illegal immigrants, which include men, women and young children, were intercepted by the naval officers at Banda, Lokoja local government area of Kogi state in the night of Tuesday.
They have allegedly intercepted trailer trucks with registration number XD 1464 LD, SRZ 148 XA and KMC 514 ZV.
The alleged illegal immigrants were said to have been transferred to the Kogi state command of the NIS where they were being interrogated to further ascertain their destination and mission.

It was however gathered that said some of the people confessed to them during interrogation that they were going to Ekiti to vote in the forthcoming governorship election as they allegedly display their voters’ card.
But some of the occupants of the trucks also claimed to be traders and heading to Okene where they buy and sell raw foodstuffs.
However, when Tribune Online visited the state command of NIS for confirmation, it was gathered that the suspects were still being interrogated and for profiling.
