Multi-talented instrumentalist, Abimbola Balogun, popularly known as Balo Sax has sensationally declared that he remained one of the best three saxophonists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, even as he maintained that he respects other instrumentalists in the city.

Speaking further, Balo, who said his sojourn into music started over 20 years ago insisted that running a music school for years said the first musical instrument he played was the trumpet.

On what influenced his music career, Balo said he listened to Fela and Lagbaja’s songs a lot when he was growing up, adding that he fell in love with the Saxophone after listening the music of Fela over a number of years.

“My involvement in music is well over 20 years. I fell in love with the Saxophone after listening to Fela and Lagbaja’s song for many years. I can boldly say that I am one of the best three instrumentalists in Ibadan because I was schooled in the art of music for more than five years.”

Speaking on the challenges he has faced in the industry, Balo said he sees every challenge as a step towards greatness hence his decision to always count his blessings rather than challenges.

“I have faced many challenges over the years. There were days when music was not paying and there was nothing to do. I remember when I just got married and I was very broke to the point that I asked myself if music was my way. But thank God that music is paying now and I am happy to be tutoring many people and helping them discover their purpose in life,” he said.
