I’m building legacy of impact, empowerment with Big C Foundation – Joachim Aforjama

Big C Foundation, established in 2021 under the visionary leadership of Amb Dr Aforjama Joachim, has been a beacon of hope and transformation for countless individuals.

As an extension of Big C Holdings, the foundation is dedicated to uplifting communities, fostering youth development, and creating a lasting impact that transcends generations.

For Joachim, Big C Foundation is more than just a charitable initiative—it is a divine calling.

“This foundation is a divine inspiration from God to touch people’s lives,” he affirms.

With a deep-rooted commitment to giving back, the foundation has implemented a range of initiatives focused on empowering young people, supporting vulnerable families, and promoting social well-being.

One of its hallmark initiatives is the annual outreach in Aniocha Local Government, held every December 24th which he has been doing till date for over a decade.

During this highly anticipated event, Big C Foundation distributes essential food items such as yam and rice to families in need, ensuring they can celebrate the festive season with dignity and joy.

“Giving is not just about providing material things; it’s about restoring hope and showing people that they are not alone,” Joachim states.

Beyond food distribution, the foundation is also heavily invested in youth empowerment. Recognizing the challenges faced by many young individuals, particularly the dangers of drug abuse, Big C Foundation organizes various programs to encourage healthy living and positive life choices. These include fitness activities and games, which not only promote physical well-being but also create a sense of community and purpose.

“Our youth are the future, and it is our duty to guide them towards a path of growth, responsibility, and excellence,” Joachim emphasises.

Big C Foundation’s commitment to fostering resilience extends to its sponsorship of the Lagos Marathon, an initiative that aligns with its mission to encourage discipline and perseverance.

The foundation sees sports as a powerful tool for development, offering young people an avenue to channel their energy positively.

For Joachim, his philanthropic work is deeply intertwined with his broader vision for Big C Holdings. He envisions the foundation as a legacy that will endure beyond his lifetime, continuously impacting lives and creating opportunities for the less privileged.

“I want to build something that will outlive me—a foundation that will continue to serve and uplift people for generations to come,” he reflects.

With an unwavering commitment to service and community development, Big C Foundation stands as a testament to the power of giving. Through its various initiatives, it continues to inspire hope, transform lives, and set a new standard for impactful philanthropy in Nigeria.
