Ilorin residents, transporters commend Kwara govt over Yebumot-Adeta road

Residents, transporters and other road users plying Yebumot-Adeta roundabout road in the Ilorin metropolis have commended the Kwara State government for timely completion of the road.

A cross section of residents and motorists who spoke to the Nigerian Tribune said that completion of the 2.1 kilometres road project had brought about relief to them.

The dualised road project was constructed with drainage on both sides, while the median was also completed with interlocks and asphalt.

Traders in the area also said that businesses had boomed due to the completion of the road project.

Some residents who said that they had earlier relocated from the area due to bad nature of the road and attendant health hazards, added that they had returned with the completion of the project.

A cross section of motorists interviewed commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for bringing succour to road users and motorists plying the area, particularly commercial vehicle, tricycle and motorcycle operators.

They also commended the contractor of the road project for deliverying a standard job.

The residents also expressed appreciation to the supervising ministry, the Ministry of Works, led by the state Commissioner for Works, Suleiman Rotimi Iliyasu and the consultant for proper monitoring of the project by ensuring that the work was done to specifications.

IIiyasu restated that the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration was committed to enhancing social economic potential of the rural and urban communities across the state.

Motorists and okada riders are, however, cautioned against excessive speeding to avoid accidents on the road more so that students ply the road on a daily basis.

“Work has also commenced on the second section of the project which is from Adeta roundabout to Mount Camel area on Oloje road in Ilorin, the state capital.

“At the project site, earthwork is already ongoing, drainage completed on one side while another drainage work has commenced on the other side of the alignment,” he said.

The contractor handling the project also assured that the job would be completed within the scheduled time and done to specifications.
