THE Ilorin community in Kwara State has built a ‘world class’ e-library within the premises of the city’s central Juma’at mosque.
The chairman of the central working committee of the central mosque, Alhaji Shehu AbdulGafar, inaugurated members of the library’s board in the state capital last weekend.
The nine-member board has a retired Accountant General in the state, Alhaji Suleiman Bayero, as chairman and library science professionals and other experts, including a veteran journalist, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, as members.
Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji AbdulGafar recalled that the master plan of the mosque, which was remodeled in 2012, included a standard library but the take-off of the building of the facility suffered delay due to paucity of funds.
He, however, expressed delight that the project and the mosque had continued to receive recognition, acceptance and support nationally and internationally.
He thanked the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede, for donating books to the library.
He also thanked an information and communication technology (ICT) consultant, Alhaji Hamza Usman, for donating 10 computers, table, chairs and installation cable to the library.
The library board’s chairman, Alhaji Bayero, expressed gratitude to the mosque’s central committee for finding him and other members of the board worthy of the appointment.
