I’ll recruit 2m policemen if I become the President ―Moughalu

THE former deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Kingsley Muoghalu, has vowed to recruit two million policemen to secure the lives and property of Nigerians, if elected the President of the country on May 29, 2019.

He disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, after a town hall meeting tagged “The Role of Youths and Women in Good Governance”.

Moughalu noted that the country is “under-policed” considering the population of the country to the number of Police securing the people.

He explained that the recruitment exercise would reduce the unemployment rate among the able-bodied Nigerians.

“We are going to recruit up to two million policemen in this country because our policemen exist only in theory. How can you have a country of 200 million people and have 300,000 policemen? It’s a joke.

“The country is not policed. So, we are going to have 2 million policemen and that’s an employment opportunity for millions of Nigerians to getting a job in the new police force and they will get those jobs, they will be trained properly, they will be equipped and that will also create jobs,” he added.

He described the social investment fund initiated by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as a fluke, saying the concept was to perpetuate poverty among the unemployed ones.

The ex-CBN boss said, “The social investment fund of the government is a joke. The reason is a joke is because first of all, the concept is wrong. You cannot be giving people N5,000 because they are unemployed. It’s just to perpetuate poverty.

“What economic value does giving an unemployed person N5,000 create? None! N5,000 can finish in two days or one! So, I’m not that level, my level is different; I’m talking about how to create wealth for Nigerians, how to create employment for Nigerians. So, I’m thinking conceptually, I’m thinking strategically, I have the political will and the know-how and expertise to execute it.”

The presidential aspirant insisted that there are many alternatives to the present administration in the country, hence his desire to contest for the exalted seat.
