The senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ogun East in the last general elections, Hon. Adeola Sosanwo has vowed to reclaim his mandate at the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal.
Sosanwo stated this on Sunday during a brief chat with some selected journalists in Sagamu, that he has compelling evidence to reclaim his mandate.
The PDP candidate is challenging the victory of Senator Lekan Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He submitted that the people of the senatorial district massively voted for him in the February 23 Presidential/ National Assembly elections.
“We are at the Tribunal with all the pieces of evidence that the election was rigged. The election was not fair at all. My mandate was wrongfully taken from me, but I am hopeful that I will get it back.
“I am convinced that we won the election despite their rigging and manipulation of results. I am going to follow this through to the end until I get my mandate back. The right thing must be done.” the senatorial candidate remarked.
The businessman turned politician disclosed that there had been a lot of pressure from the camp of Senator Mustapha to name his price and withdraw his petition from the tribunal.
He, however, affirmed that he would not negotiate with anyone on the matter, insisting to stand by his mandate.
His words “Let me put on record that I have never collected a dime from anyone. My confidence is not in any man. I am fighting this battle alone, but I put my trust in God who never fails. I believe justice will prevail in the end.” he said.
“It is only God that makes one a leader and not the making of any godfather. I pray the judges at the tribunal would do the right thing as I believe the truth will prevail in the end. I know I am going to get my mandate back.”
Sosanwo alleged that he was sold out by his Party members in the last election as some of them worked with the opposition to rob him of victory.
He, however, commended the Party’s gubernatorial candidate in the last election, Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu for supporting his bid to contest the outcome of the election.
