GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has declared that he would rather be a deacon raising the dead than be a useless General Overseer that cannot heal a rat.
He made the declaration while teaching minsters of the mission at the just-concluded Ministers’ Conference, which heralded the ongoing 64th Annual Convention of the church, which is holding at the Redemption Camp, Kilometre 46, Lagos – Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.
The man of God, while reiterating that ministers of God be obedient to every instruction in order to enjoy unsolicited spiritual promotion, said title craze was unnecessary in the vineyard of God as it does not translate to spiritual strength.
“If you are obedient, you don’t need to pray for promotion. Many of us have come to the conclusion that promotion means you get a title.
“That last year you were Pastor-in-Charge of Parish and this year you are Pastor-in-Charge of Area. Hey! Big man! Daddy Area (laughs), Daddy Zone, Daddy Province.”
“Do you know state pastors used to call themselves governors? You can be General Overseer and not be able to heal a rat. You can bear a title for nothing.
“And you can be a deaconess and raise the dead! If I have to choose between the two, I’ll rather be a deacon raising the dead, making the blind to see, making the lame walk, making the dump to speak, making the barren fruitful than be a useless General Overseer!
“We’re talking about spiritual promotion. It has nothing to do with titles,” he declared.
