Ikpeazu tasks corps members on hard work, creativity

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has advised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the state to imbibe the culture of hard work and creativity to enable them to excel in their future endeavours.

Ikpeazu gave the advice on Monday at the closing ceremony of the NYSC 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Orientation Course at Umunna in Bende Local Government Area of the state.

The governor, represented by Mr Chris Ezem, the Secretary to the State Government, said that the secret of hard work was for one to love what one does.

He said, “It is this secret that guarantees the enthusiasm that translates into competence, efficiency and effectiveness.

“It is important to note at this juncture that every system, such as ours that is undergoing fundamental changes, opens itself to opportunity for the creative minds.

“The system needs people who are not afraid to dream great dreams but who are determined to make a great impact on our economy and society.”

According to him, the nation today needs young men and women who can develop new solutions to emerging problems.

The governor advised them to accept their postings and be ready to improve the standard of living of the people of their host communities.

In her address, the Abia NYSC coordinator, Mrs Bona Fasakin, said that 2,211 corps members were deployed to the state.

She admonished the corps members to put into practice the knowledge they acquired during the 21-day induction course.

Fasakin thanked the governor for all the assistance to the scheme over the years.

She, however, appealed for government’s intervention in tackling the erosion ravaging the camp.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some corps members and camp officials were honoured with certificates and awards in recognition for their outstanding performances in camp.
