Ikpeazu redeems Teachers’ Day car pledge

The Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, on Wednesday, redeemed his pledge of three Sienna car gifts to three beneficiaries and winners of the 2021 Teachers’ Day Celebration held in the state.

Governor Ikpeazu, who presented the keys of the cars to the three female beneficiaries at the Government House, Umuahia, stated that the car gifts were a demonstration of his love and appreciation of the effort teachers were making in ensuring that Abia students remain tops in internal and external examinations across the country.

Dr Ikpeazu, represented by his Deputy, Sir. Ude Oko Chukwu reaffirmed the present administration’s resolve to uplift the standards of education in the state, added that led to the splitting of the Education Ministry into two in order to give the sector the desired and required attention and expressed delight that Abia students had so far been coming top in WAEC and NECO examinations across the nation.

The governor used the forum to further reaffirm his administration’s determination to clear all arrears of salaries owed to teachers in the state and urged them not to relent in complementing the government’s efforts at improving the standard of education in the state and disclosed that the car gifts to teachers drawn from the three Senatorial zones of the state would be a continuous exercise.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Ugo Beloved Ogbonnaya of Abia North zone and from Etitiama Community School, Nkporo in Ohafia LGA, appreciated Governor Ikpeazu for his magnanimity and show of love to them through the gift of the Sienna Cars to them and prayed God to continue to bless and grant him the grace to excel in governance.

Other beneficiaries included Mrs. Ogbonna Oluchi Peace of Abia South and from Central School Obehie, in Ukwa West LGA and Mrs Onuoha Veronica Maduoma of Abia Central and from Amasa Community School, Uratta, in Isiala Ngwa North LGA.
