Ikirun agog for Omisore, charges on PVCs collection, warns against rigging

Senator Iyiola Omisore addressing Ikotun people

IKIRUN in Osun State was thrown into frenzy on Tuesday, when the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) arrived the township with his campaign train, as a mammoth crowd who had gathered to witness the SDP campaign rally sang different songs in support of the governorship ambition of the Ife-born politician.

Ushering him to the podium, the spokesperson of SDP, Mr Taiwo Akeju, commended the people for their loyalty and support for SDP, while the national leader of the party, Ambassador Yemi Farounbi congratulated the people for witnessing a time which he said, God had ordained for Omisore to come and rescue Osun people from many years of hardship in the state.

“Omisore is the bricklayer that will rebuild the damaged Osun buildings, he will effect the prompt payment of workers salaries and pension arrears, as we all know the problem of governance in Osun is lack of know-how in budgeting and administration, but we need someone like Omisore, who knows about budgeting, a consultant for World Bank and a former chairman of Appropriation Committee in the Senate. He is the only man who can bring a change for better in Osun State,” Farounbi said.

In his address, Omisore said, the long-awaited freedom had come to the people of the state, “the day I become the governor of Osun State,” as he assured the people that, “this is the time to be freed from many years of working without salaries and payment of pension arrears for our senior citizens,” just as he charged the people to go and collect their PVCs and troop out to vote for SDP in the September 22 governorship election in the state.

“As early as 6:00 a.m. on September 22, go out with your PVCs, it is the passport to vote for Omisore, as a vote for SDP is a vote for freedom from many years of working without salaries and pension arrears, it is a freedom vote for drugs in our hospitals, and for qualitative education for our children,” Omisore said, while he charged the people to stay with their votes and resist rigging in voting centers.

“Stay with your votes, supervise your votes and don’t allow anyone to steal ballot papers. When you see anyone violating the rules, arrest them and hand them over to authorities, don’t allow anyone to pay you to vote, but you have a right to collect back your stolen funds and vote for Omisore, vote for SDP, and after voting, wait for your vote to be counted, follow them to collation centres, and don’t be fearful of intimidation from any security agents who are meant to protect you and your votes,” Omisore said.

He charged that “one day of election in eight years will bring about freedom, hence, people should not relent in their bid to vote the ruling party out and follow their votes “bumper to bumper,” while the party chairman, Dr Bayo Faforiji, also tasked the people to get their PVCs and vote for Omisore, who he also called a man set to rescue Osun people from the doldrums and many years of ‘bad leadership in the state.
