Ijaw Gbaramatu women give FG one week to release arrested 10 students

WOMEN of Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West Local Givernment Area of Delta State have given President Muhammadu Buhari one week ultimatum to release 10 secondary students arrested in May by members of the Joint Task Force (JTF).

The JTF was deployed to Oporoza to smoke out members of the Niger Delta Avengers in the wake of bombing of oil and gas pipelines.

As of Wednesday, the boys have spent 46 days in the custody of the soldiers and have been kept incommunicado.

The women, most of whom are mothers of the arrested students who have been denied sitting for their WAEC and NECO exams, marched through The NPA axis of the busy Warri/Sapele road on Wednesday.

They were dressed in black attires and armed with placards, denouncing the continued detention of the boys whose whereabouts has been kept away from their parents and guardian.

The women were accompanied by members of the Association of Gbaramatu Students, who also appealed to Buhari to immediately effect the release of the teenagers whom they said were not members of the NDA.
