The Senate, on Thursday, passed for first reading a bill for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ihima, Kogi.
Sponsored by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP/Kogi Central), the bill aims to address the medical needs of the people in Kogi Central.
This milestone marks a crucial step towards improving healthcare accessibility and delivering quality representation to the people of Kogi Central, fulfilling Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s campaign promises and her efforts to make healthcare more accessible to her constituents, thereby bringing the very best dividends of democracy to the people.
Ihima town is located in the southwestern part of Kogi, bordering Ondo and Edo, and serves as a stop for travelers heading to the north, west, and southern states.
The proposed hospital will not only serve the indigenes of Ihima but also cater to Nigerians who may require medical assistance due to vehicular mishaps along the Akoko Edo and Akoko Ondo axis.
