The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has commended the courage, professionalism and effectiveness of operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) and other officers involved in the successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, relatives of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

According to a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP noted that the dedication and resilience of the operatives were instrumental in securing the safe release of the victims.

The victims were abducted on June 3, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The statement further explained that security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who fled during the operation.

While confirming the successful rescue of the victims, the statement said they were freed during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Ibadan at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Mrs. Adegoke and her children were kidnapped at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3 while she was driving the twins to school.

The successful rescue mission followed sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations by the police, which enabled investigators to track the movements of the kidnappers and ultimately engage them in a confrontation.

According to the statement, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded during the operation, while two rifles were recovered from the scene.

The statement added that the victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and necessary support.
