THE lawmaker representing Ogun East on the Upper Chamber, Senator Buruji Kashamu, has urged the Department of State Services, the Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ignore his purported expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Tribune Online recalled that the leadership of the party, last Saturday, wrote a letter to the three agencies intimating them of the expulsion of Kashamu from the party.

In a letter written to the party’s National chairman, Uche Secondus, Kashamu, said the letters signed by the National Legal Adviser of the party, Emmanuel Enoidem, were not only borne out of ignorance but most ridiculous, deceitful and criminally contemptuous.

The lawmaker argued that it was outside the functions of the National Legal Adviser of PDP to write such correspondences as stipulated in Article 42 of the Party’s Constitution.

He explained that the power to write such correspondences is reserved for only the party’s national chairman and secretary as stipulated in Articles 35 and 36 of the party’s constitution.

He said, “Thus, I respectfully urge you to discountenance the fake letter, as it is not worth more than the piece of paper on which it was written.

“Secondly, the National Executive Committee (NEC) could not have validly expelled me and others when there are subsisting judgments and orders of court forbidding them from taking any disciplinary action against me and the others.

“If they had taught through their ill-advised step, they would have realized that it offends the provision of Article 57 (6) of the PDP Constitution.”

Kashamu added that there were pending litigations in which the courts had restrained the PDP from taking any disciplinary action against him and others.
