Igbo group lauds Tinubu, NASS over SEDC Act

The Igbo Think Tank, under the aegis of Aka Ikenga, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for assenting to the South East Development Commission Bill, (SEDC) passed into law by the National Assembly, describing the move as noteworthy after 54 years of deliberate delays and barriers for a structured reconstruction of the region, ravaged by 30 months of Civil War.

The group equally appreciated the National Assembly for what it described as its significant support for the entire South East members, in ensuring that the passing of the Bill into Act on the floor of both chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

President of Aka Ikenga, Agbalanze Chike Madueke, said this in a release by the Director of Publicity, Collins Steve Ugwu, copy of which was made available to newsmen on Friday, saying that it was full of gratitude President Tinubu for actualizing the much elusive reconstruction of the South East region, 30 months of Civil War, 54 years after.

“It is indeed a thing for noteworthy gratitude that finally, after 54yrs of deliberate delays and barriers for a structured reconstruction of the South East region, ravaged as it were by 30 months of civil war, the swing of history fell upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to actualize the elusive process, with his salutary presidential signature making the Bill an Act of law for real action,” Madueke said.

Madueke said the group was equally grateful to the entire members of the National Assembly “for this significant support,” just as he also appreciated the entire South East legislators in the National Assembly “for their unique virtue of cohesion and quite deservedly, the Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, whose zest in leadership inspired the energy and charisma that saw us here and good.”

Applauding Ndigbo generally for their patience and persistence, Dr Madueke emphasized that, the Igbo nation’s socio-economic positiveness and the yearning for development without boundaries would be deployed to its fullest to ensure the success of the South East Development Commission, hoping that commission would incorporate the Anioma areas going forward.

He assured President Tinubu and members of the National Assembly members, especially those from South East of readiness of Aka Ikenga led by him to be “on its toes to monitor and add value to all further processes to enhance speed, competence and capacity in the running of the Commission, having taken five decades plus to achieve.”
