The Ogun State governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun has warned criminals terrorising the State to lay down their arms and weapons, as his government would not tolerate hooliganism, thuggery and cultism.
Abiodun who noted that citizens of the State are peace-loving also stated that those caught brandishing arms and weapons would be brought to book.
He made this known while addressing newsmen after commiserating with families of those who lost their lives in the recent crisis in Ifo area of the State.
The governor-elect was on an assessment visit to the razed constituency offices of the House of Representatives member in Ifo/Ewekoro Hon Ibrahim Isiaka as well as that of the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo and destruction of five vehicles.
He described the incident that led to the loss of two lives as unfortunate, appealing to the good people of the State to be more tolerant of one other.
“For those that seize the opportunity to commit arson, they will be brought to book. We would not tolerate indiscipline, we would not tolerate hooliganism. We would not tolerate thuggery, We would not tolerate cultism.”
“I am using this opportunity to sound a very big note of warning to all that have been engaging in cultism in Ogun State, the time for that is up.
“We will not condone the brandishing of weapons and arms in this State.  This is not Banana Republic For those that want to engage in that, they must begin to have a rethink. Those that have done this, I have charged the commissioner of Police and the State Director of SSS to bring them to book. They must be brought to book.” Abiodun assured.
The incoming governor, however, promised to engage the youths who lay down their weapons and shun crime,  saying his administration when sworn in on May 29 would come up with a very aggressive programme to achieve this.
