Ifedayo Odebunmi’s journey from Lagos to Global Fashion

Ifedayo Odebunmi’s story is one of determination, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Ifedayo’s journey to becoming a renowned fashion entrepreneur began with humble roots and a passion for blending cultural heritage with modern style.

Ifedayo left Lagos to pursue a computer science degree at Espam Formation University in the Republic of Benin after finishing her elementary and secondary schooling there. Her passion for fashion really took off while she was living in Benin, and as a result, she started her own companies, Softouchcouture, Soft Ivory Men, and My Soft Ivory’s.

“The motivation behind our brands is clear: to create unique and high-quality products that inspire and empower individuals. Our designs are not just about fashion; they are about reflecting cultural heritage and values, providing a platform for self-expression and individuality.

“However, our journey was not without its challenges. From sourcing quality materials locally to accessing funding for business, we faced numerous obstacles along the way. Infrastructure limitations and navigating the competitive fashion industry added further complexity. Despite these challenges, our passion and determination propelled us forward, helping us overcome hurdles and build a successful brand”, she stated.

Ifedayo also highlighted that criticism and design infringement were also challenges her brand faced. Yet, she approached these situations with professionalism and resilience, viewing criticism as an opportunity for growth and taking necessary steps to protect her intellectual property rights.

“When it comes to competition, we stay true to our brand, focusing on creating unique designs and providing high-quality products. We see competition as motivation to improve and innovate, rather than as a threat,” she said.

As Ifedayo looks to the future, her sights are set on international expansion. She plans to take her craft to new heights by opening her business in other countries and collaborating with international fashion designers to broaden her experience and reach.

From Lagos to the global stage, Ifedayo Odebunmi’s journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the pursuit of one’s dreams in the world of fashion entrepreneurship.
