The National Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE), Mr Emmanuel Akinwole disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
The countries expected at the conference scheduled to hold in October are UK, India, South Africa, Israel and Ghana.
According to him, key players in Nigeria’s power and telecommunication sectors will constitute a powerful delegation to the conference.
“Participants at the conference will be professional engineering personnel who specialise in power and communication engineering practice, regulations, businesses and government agencies.
“The conference will have presenters, exhibitors, students, manufacturers and learners of new technologies in these fields.’’
He said that it would also afford participants opportunity to learn new technologies, changes in government policies, regulations and challenges facing the profession.
According to him, participants will equally acquire solutions to combat the challenges confronting the sectors professionally.
“Exhibitors are coming to showcase new products, equipment and cutting edge technologies in power and communication engineering; some of them have Nigerian representatives and agents.’’
According to him, former president Olusegun Obasanjo and the Minister of Communication Technology, Mr Adebayo Shittu, will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the ICEPT.
Akinwole said that the move was to enhance ICT development in the country.
“The minister has expressed his willingness to mobilise his personnel and MDAs under the ministry to participate in the conference taking place in Abuja.’’
He said that the conference would run concurrently with exhibition that would afford engineers and allied professionals the opportunity to interact with their colleagues in the government, academia, consulting and contracting services.
