THE Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Buba Jubril, on Wednesday, said better knowledge of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) could guarantee the future of the Nigerian youths.
The lawmaker said there could never be any socio-economic development without the youths updating themselves on ICT.
Jubril, who is representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said this in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital while declaring open a three –day training programme in ICT for 200 youths selected across the 21of the federal constituency.
According to him, the youths should join their colleagues across the globe to be ICT compliant as most activities had become on line based across the globe, saying that there was urgent need for Nigeria youths to join the trend.
The training programme is being sponsored by Jibril.
The lawmaker who sponsored the programme and spoke through his personal assistant, Mr Moses Adoga, said that the training was to prepare the participants for computer based tests and other computer related activities.
He said that the participants who are mostly students in senior secondary schools in the constituency would be exposed to basic knowledge of computer to get them prepared for future academic challenges.
Jubril however charged the participants to take the training seriously, promising to give each of the participants a free lap top at the end of the training.
A managing partner of Telefonica Technology, the consultancy firm handling the training, Suleman Oyaremi, said the training would hold simultaneously in Lokoja and Koton Karfe, the headquarters of Kogi Local Government.
