Abuja’s theatre enthusiasts are in for a treat as the highly anticipated stage play ‘Once Upon Four Robbers’ takes centre stage this weekend at the NAF Conference Centre.

Written by celebrated playwright Femi Osofisan and directed by the acclaimed Dire Badejo, the production promises a captivating exploration of societal challenges, blending drama, culture, and entertainment.

In a statement, Dire Badejo highlighted the play’s focus on the realities of poverty and the moral dilemmas surrounding survival, emphasizing its continued relevance in today’s society. The narrative follows four robbers entangled in the web of societal corruption and economic hardship, showcasing how systemic inequalities often shape individual choices.

“Osofisan’s work sheds light on the struggles faced by many in contemporary African nations, delivering a powerful social commentary,” Badejo noted.

Featuring an ensemble of 50 talented performers, the play incorporates vibrant elements of dance, music, and humour, ensuring a rich theatrical experience. As the festive season approaches, Once Upon Four Robbers offers audiences a unique opportunity to reflect on societal issues while enjoying a memorable family-friendly event.

The production also carries a deeper purpose, aiming to impart moral lessons and challenge viewers to rethink historical and societal narratives. Badejo urged prospective attendees to secure tickets online, as on-site ticket sales will not be available.

Supported by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the play exemplifies NNPCL’s commitment to cultural and literary advancement in Nigeria.
