The Chief Executive Officer (FSDH) infrastructure Debt Fund, Dr Suleiman Ibrahim has been inducted as the president of the Alumni of the Department of Crop Protection and Environmental Biology, CPEB , University of Ibadan, Ibadan .
The induction ceremony of the new president was held on Thursday alongside other members of the executives of the alumni body at the CPEB’s Seminar room, University of Ibadan.
Speaking, Dean , Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Andrew Omojola charged the newly inducted president to bring in more innovations to assist the department in modernizing its facilities.
He added that the success of a university depends largely on how actively the alumni association of the institution supports it.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inducted president, Dr Suleiman Ibrahim , pledged to channel his knowledge, resources and expertise towards a transformative impact on both the department and the University at large.
He noted that his goal is to establish a community that fosters collaboration, mentorship and resource -sharing , empowering each members of the alumni to thrive and contribute meaningfully in their various fields of interest.
He said “It is with deep gratitude and a profound sense of purpose and responsibility that I stand before you today, accepting the honor of serving as the president of the alumni Association of the Department of Crop Protection and Environmental Biology at our premier University of Ibadan , Ibadan.
“For some time the department has engaged its alumni, valuing our insights, support and contributions. Today, however, marks the beginning of a new and innovative era in alumni engagement, one that will allow us to channel our collective knowledge, resources and expertise towards a transformative impact on both the department and each other.
“Our department has cultivated a strong legacy of academic rigor, research excellence and practical relevance in addressing critical challenges in crop protection and environmental biology. It is time for us as alumni to build on this foundation by creating network and actively drive innovation within the department. Our goal is to establish a community that fosters collaboration, mentorship and resource-sharing, empowering each of us to thrive and contribute meaningfully in our various fields of interest.
“In this new phase, we aim to elevate our engagement with one another and with the department, supporting initiatives that enhance research, enrich the curriculum and improve resources. This is a call to all of us to become active participants in this new course where our individual achievements contribute to the collective strength and future ambitions of our department.
“Thank you for the trust you have placed in me this time. I am excited to work alongside the other executive members and everyone to make this vision a reality. Together, let us embark on this innovative journey and build a legacy we can all be proud of.”
Also speaking, guest speaker at the event, Yusuf’s Issa emphasized on the need to return back to nature in giving a cure to some illness.
