IBEDC promises to end Mowe/Ibafo electricity outage

Ogun State that the outage they currently face will soon become a thing of the past.

The Deputy Managing Director of IBEDC, Engineer John Ayodele, who gave this assurance in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the management of IBEDC had completed plans to construct a power line from the Kobape road to 2x60MVA, 132/33KV MPP New Abeokuta Transmission Station, which was commissioned a month ago.

According to IBEDC, the problem is traceable to the 33Kv line that serves the mentioned communities in Magboro, Ibafo and Mowe in Ogun state, is Owo-Egba which radiates from the overloaded Ojere 3x30MVA, 132/33KV transmission station, Abeokuta in Ogun state and has a very long route length totaling 298.23km.

The statement said, “It is the same feeder that feeds other communities at the tail end of the lengthy line thus making it susceptible to tripping and counter-tripping faults and has led to the constant poor power supply being experienced in these areas.”

IBEDC added that the new line being done has a much shorter route length and would be able to deliver surplus power.

The statement added, “Before we embarked on our current solution to the crisis, we were aware that the Niger Delta Power Holding company (NDPHC) was constructing a new 33KV overhead line from Oke Aro 330/132/33KV (40km) transmission station, passing through Magboro, Ibafo and Mowe to the new NIPP 1X15MVA, 33/11KV injection substation beside the Redeemed church camp at Mowe in Ogun state.”

“However, all attempts by the NIPP project owner (NDPHC) to commission this new line failed due to numerous constructional defects, and in order to put the affected line into an operational state, IBEDC management set up a joint team comprising IBEDC and TCN officials to inspect, identify and assist in rectifying some of the constructional defects arising from the poor construction quality and standard.”

The company pleaded with its customers to bear with it, assuring that they would soon start enjoying regular power supply.
