IBEDC said the disruption was to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) embark on infrastructural and equipment upgrade at the Abeokuta 132/33KV Transmission Station Ojere, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Areas to be affected during this period include Presidential Hill top, Obasanjo Hilltop, Lukosi, Abiola-way, Elite, Obantoko, Alabata, Osi-ele, Eleweran, Asero, Lafenwa, Sabo, Mile 2, Rounder, Soyoye, Alamala, Ayetoro, Imeko, Akinolugbade, Ake, Ijaye, Ijeja, Omida, Panseke, Oke-Ilewo, Onikolobo, Adigbe, Sapon, Totoro, Adatan, Okejigbo and environs.
“IBEDC regrets all inconveniences this exercise would cause our valued and esteemed customers, assuring that normal and improved power supply will be restored to Abeokuta and its environs as soon as the construction and upgrading work is completed by TCN,” the company stated.
Giving more details in a statement made available to Nigerian Tribune, the distribution company said, “Two 30MVA (T1 and T2) transformers are going to be upgraded to two 60MVA transformers while at the same time decommissioning the old transformers one after the other.
“Presently, one 30MVA (T2) transformer has been decommissioned while the load on it is being transferred to the second 30MVA (T1) transformer. This exercise, aimed at improving the supply of electricity to Abeokuta and its environs, is expected to last for some months.
“During this period, all our customers on these affected transformers will be receiving power supply from the other 30MVA (T1) transformer. Since this measure cannot accommodate all the required power demand of our customers, there will be massive load shedding of supply during this period. However, we shall ensure equitable hours of electricity supply pending the time the project is completed.”
