Residents of Ibadan, Oyo state capital staged a peaceful protest on Monday, over rising cost of living and economic hardship in the country.

The protesting crowd of youths gathered at the Mokola area of Ibadan, carrying placards and chanting songs to express their agitation.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards says, “Tinubu open border,” Tinubu gooooo”, “ Give us good health facilities”, “‘End food hike and inflation’, ‘The poor are starving’, ‘Tinubu, don’t forget your promises’, amongst others.

One of the leaders of the protest, while addressing the throng of youth protesters lamented the economic hardship and ineffectiveness of government policies on privatization and subsidy removal.

Armed police were on standby at the protest scene to ensure the march remained peaceful.

Recall that on February 8th, 2024, residents of the ancient city of Kano trooped out in large numbers to stage a peaceful protest over the high cost of food, lamenting that the economic situation has worsened daily.
