The management of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State has concluded arrangements to hold its 34th convocation ceremony on Friday, 13 December 2019
Giving this hint was the deputy rector and chairman, graduation ceremony planning committee, Mrs Abiodun Olubunmi Olubamiwa at the press conference organised by the institution, held at the Board of Studies Chamber of the Central Administrative Building of the institution.
According to the deputy rector, the convocation ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate major stakeholders and to intimate the public with the achievements of the institution after the last graduation ceremony.
As part of the programmes earmarked to celebrate the 34th convocation is a Jumat Service which will hold tomorrow, Friday, 6 December 2019 at the Central Mosque of the institution by 1.30pm, and to be followed by a Church Service on Sunday, 8 December, 2019 at the Lord’s Chapel of the polytechnic by 10pm.

She added that the graduation lecture entitled, ‘The Dream, The Challenge and the Reality of Contemporary Nigeria for Fresh Graduates’ is slated for Thursday, 12 December 2019 and it will be delivered by Professor Ayobami Ojebode, the Head of Department, Communication and Language Arts, University of Ibadan.
Mrs Olubamiwa also hinted that at the ceremony, certificates of National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, Post Graduate and Full Diploma will be awarded to graduands in five faculties namely; Faculty of Business and Communication studies with eight departments and Faculty of Engineering with five departments.
Others include Faculty of Science with seven departments, Faculty of Environmental Studies with seven departments and faculty of Financial Management Studies with three departments.
Speaking about the achievements of the institution, the deputy rector said: “There are numerous innovations and giant strides our students have made to justify their technological training at the polytechnic, just as our IT lecturers were trained by the Federal Ministry of Education in preparation for the establishment of Oracle Academies in Nigeria Schools and the polytechnic is now certified Oracle Academy.”
She stated further that in recognition of 25th gold medals in various sporting activities such as tennis, basketball, scrabbles, chess and hockey, the management under the leadership of Professor Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi, had graciously approved scholarship for 10 students-athletes who excelled in the above competition.
The chairman, graduation ceremony planning committee, appreciated the proprietor of the institution, the executive governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his commitment towards the growth and development of the institution.
