Ibadan: Old students donate projector to alma mater

The ST. Louis Ibadan Old Girls Association-Global celebrated teachers of the school on Wednesday during the Teachers Appreciation Day held at the school premises – at Mokola, Ibadan.

The event, which was held in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day, is aimed at recognizing the selfless contributions of the staff members.

The event also witnessed the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to teachers, and donations of a projector, and a printer to the alma mater.

In her speech, SLIOGA GLOBAL Coordinator Isioma Oyarekhua explained that teachers make up the foundation of the school community and should be honored for their dedication, passion, and impact on the lives of students.

Oyarekhua, who was represented by the Coordinator Education Committee, SLIOGA Global, Funsho Balepo, noted that the teachers were presented twithccertificatesof appreciation in recognition of the teachers’ dedication in the face of challenges, including resource limitations and societal undervaluation.

While she restated the alumnae’s commitment to further supporting the development of the school.

She said “On this special World Teacher’s Day, SLIOGA Global celebrates the incredible teachers at ST.Louis Grammar School, Mokola, Ibadan. You are the foundation of our school community, and today, we honor your dedication, passion, and the difference you make in the lives of our students every day.

“This year’s theme, “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education, “ underscores the critical role teachers play in shaping our future. Their contributions go beyond the classroom, touching the hearts and minds of the next generation of leaders.

“In recognition of teachers’ efforts, SLIOGAL Global presents certificates and tokens of appreciation, a small gesture to acknowledge all that you do. While we know this does not capture the full scope of your impact, we want you to know that we see and value your dedication, especially in the face of challenges like resource limitations and societal undervaluation.

Speaking at the event, the keynote speaker at the event, Mrs Mojisola Kolade, explained that Teachers Day is a reminder of the importance of education and the positive impact it has on its learners.

While appreciating the Old Students Association for the gesture, she added that the event signifies that the alumnae is interested in the welfare of the students and the progress of the school.

Kolade, however, urged all alumni associations to bring back the glory of their alma mater by ensuring that the present generation benefits from what they enjoyed while in school.

Responding, the Principal of St.Louis Ibadan (Senior School), Dr Oyeyemi Shadare, appreciated the alumnae for celebrating teachers of the school.

While she reinstated the teachers’ commitment towards giving their best to the students, to achieve more records of outstanding success among students of the school.
