Ibadan healthcare service provider to empower over 600 personnel

Published by

An Ibadan-based health care service provider has concluded plans to empower over 600 health professionals through adequate training to provide adequate healthcare for the senior citizens not only in Oyo State but the nation as a whole.

The Managing Director of Assurance Imperial Home Carer Services, Dolapo Preboye, made the disclosure in a chat with the newsmen in Bodija, Ibadan North local government area.

Preboye, who decried the brain drain being experienced in the health sector nationwide, said the empowerment of health professionals is aimed at filling the existing vacuum created by medical personnel who had fled the country in search of greener pastures.

He added that the institution is poised to fill the ever-growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals in the sector, offering one of the most comprehensive and internationally recognised training programmes available.

According to him, “One of the hallmarks of Assurance Imperial’s training programme is its international accreditation. The courses are certified by the Red Cross and cover essential areas like CPR, First Aid, and Basic Life Support, ensuring that graduates are fully prepared for emergency situations.

“These certifications not only boost employability but also meet the stringent standards required for care jobs in countries like Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and across Europe.

“The curriculum at Assurance Imperial Home is carefully crafted to provide a well-rounded education. Students are trained in both the theoretical aspects of caregiving, such as patient rights, communication skills, and ethical considerations, and the practical skills that are essential for daily care activities.

The programme covers elder care, support work, and nurse assistance and includes specialised training in areas like dementia and Alzheimer’s care, wound care, vital sign checking, ambulation, and medication administration.

“The programme is not just about classroom learning—it also provides real-world experience through internships and volunteer opportunities. Students gain hands-on experience in care homes and home care settings, applying what they’ve learned in a practical environment. This experience is invaluable, providing a solid foundation for a successful career and making graduates more competitive in the job market,” he stated.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of the institution, Mrs. Tessa Osibogun-Olasewere, further described Assurance Imperial Home Training School as a gateway to national global opportunities.

Osibogun-Olasewere, Amherst Massachusetts, New England-trained home carer expert of over 40 years of experience, added that one of the most significant advantages of training with Assurance Imperial Home is the pathway it creates to national and global job opportunities.

She said, “Many graduates have gone on to secure well-paying positions in healthcare facilities in countries like Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and across Europe. The program’s international certifications, coupled with the experience gained through internships, make Assurance Imperial alumni highly sought after by employers around the world.

“The benefits of personalised care lead to a range of positive outcomes for elders. By addressing individual needs and preferences, we enhance their overall quality of life and foster a greater sense of dignity and respect.

“Elders within our care feel the love and care we provide daily, which significantly improves their emotional well-being and satisfaction.”
