Ibadan Circular Road: Anambra Gov to flag off 32.2km road component Friday

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde will welcome the Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Soludo on Friday to inaugurate the road infrastructure component of the Ibadan Circular Road project.

The flag-off of the 32.2-kilometre road infrastructure segment of the 110-kilometre project, named after former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, marks the completion of the first phase of this significant project initiated by Governor Makinde after previous administrations considered the idea but took no action.

The 32.2km South-East Wing of the four-section project comprises six bridges and two interchanges, all of which have been completed since 2023.

Governor Makinde and his guest will also commission the Junction Improvement Works in the Idi-Ape-Civic Centre-Agodi Gate axis.

The Makinde administration took the initiative to propel the important but neglected Ibadan Circular Road Project forward as part of the government’s commitment to constructing infrastructure aimed at boosting the state’s economy.

Segmented into four sections – South-East Wing (32.2km), North-East Wing (20km), North-West Wing (33km), and South-West Wing (24km) – the 110km project was designed to encircle Ibadan, the state capital, and alleviate traffic congestion in the city.

It will also strategically link the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, the Moniya Train Station, and the Ilutuntun Business District being constructed by the state government, as well as the Oluyole Free Trade Zone proposed by the government.
