AS part of its contribution to efforts at tackling the ravaging coronavirus pandemic, the Ibadan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Oyo State government.
Speaking while handing over the equipment at the Infectious Disease Centre, Olodo Ibadan, The President of the chamber, Sola Abodunrin, noted that the body of businessmen and women is compelled to complement government’s efforts at ensuring that the management of coronavirus is carried out effectively.
“We want to use this opportunity to appreciate the governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde, for giving businesses in the state the opportunity to operate even though at a minimal level.
“In some other states, there was complete lockdown which crippled businesses to a very large extent. But what we have here in Oyo State is partial lockdown which gives room for businesses to thrive to a reasonable extent.
“For this, we thank the state government and we want to reassure the government of our continuous support for the government in whatever form so long it is in the best interest of the masses,” he said.
Abodunrin, however, urged the people of Oyo State to always take precautionary measures aimed at preventing further spread of the coronavirus.
“I also want to call on the people of the state to abide by the rules that guide against further spread of coronavirus by washing hands regularly, constant use of hand sanitiser and keeping social distance. By doing this, the prevalence of the disease will be put under absolute control,” he concluded.
Receiving the items which comprised surgical gowns, pairs of clogs and packs of KN95 face masks, the Chief Medical Officer at the centre on behalf of the state government, Dr Olusina Adeoye, thanked the Ibadan Chamber of Commerce for the donation, while giving the assurance that the equipment will be put into judicious use.
