Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, on Friday, restated his desire to become the next president of Nigeria, saying “that’s my wish and anyone can state whatever his desire is in life and in politics.”
“I want to be the next President of Nigeria. My own won’t be this Change that has brought nothing. We are going to represent the people well and tell them the truth.
“I have penchant for taking powers. That one in Buhari’s hand, I will take it. I am going straight to that Villa. I am the next president,” he boasted.
Fayose, who said these while addressing political office holders in the state at a meeting in the Government House, also said neither ex-Governor Olusegun Oni nor Dr Kayode Fayemi would succeed in their perceived bid to return as the state governor in 2018.
He said that neither of the two ex-governors performed well enough to earn a second chance from Ekiti people like himself.
He said: “Just because Ayo Fayose won a second term to become governor of Ekiti, some people also think they can come back now. But I want to tell them that it is not possible. I am the man wholeheartedly loved by Ekiti people because many of the projects that have brought great infrastructural and developmental advancement to Ekiti.”
He said a public rally to celebrate three years of his election on June 21, 2014, would hold next Wednesday and would include a procession of all political stakeholders in the state.
He said this would “act as a show of force to show my opponents our strength and to tell them that we are ready for the election in 2018.”
Fayose said part of the strategy was to also inaugurate “Oshoko Institute of Politics” to train his party members who would rally and sensitise Ekiti people on the need to continue his legacy by voting a candidate of his choice.
He said the need for continuity in the state was necessary just as it was achieved in Lagos, where he noted that continuity had helped the state to ensure political stability and development.
“The institute is to sustain our ideology. To work in the interest of the common man. They are to know what to do on election day, how to win election before the D Day by being part of the people. It is an institution where you would be trained to be a leader that is washing the feet of others.
“They will be learning the Oshoko way, learning what Oshoko represents. And from here everyone of them would go back to their grassroots to lead their polling booths,” he stated.
On his contention that he would be the next president of the country, he said “it is my wish to go higher and my wish is to become the next president of Nigeria after being the governor of Ekiti State. It is not out of place for me to say what I want to be, just like anybody else.”
