The Leader of the Northern Caucus in the House of Representatives, Hon. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, on Sunday, pledged his unwavering commitment to ensuring that Kano State is secured for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
This assurance came in response to remarks made by Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who claimed that Doguwa poses a threat to the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Kano State.
Hon. Jibrin, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, had earlier accused Doguwa of being involved in the killing of seven innocent people during the 2019 election campaigns—a charge that has haunted the latter. Jibrin’s comments were part of a broader critique of Doguwa’s political influence in Kano.
In a swift rebuttal, Hon. Doguwa, who also chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), dismissed the allegations as baseless and unfounded.
He highlighted that despite facing numerous challenges, he remains a significant political force in Kano, being the only APC representative from the Kano South Senatorial District to have successfully returned to the House of Representatives.
“I am not a liability in Kano politics; rather, I am an asset, a source of pride, and a goldmine for the APC at both the state and national levels,” Doguwa asserted. “I stand tall in the Kano political landscape, and I am the only big threat to the erratic NNPP government and its self-proclaimed leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso.”
Doguwa criticized the NNPP’s performance in Kano, accusing the party of failing to advance the state’s economic and social development. He characterized the NNPP’s governance as shadow-chasing and driven by vendetta rather than progress.

Appealing to the APC leadership, Doguwa requested to be appointed as the Coordinator and Director-General of the party’s 2027 campaign in Kano.
“I respectfully request that the leadership of our great party, APC, allow me to serve as the Director-General of the Kano State APC Campaign project in 2027. I vow to deliver APC gubernatorial and presidential results before 12 noon, Insha Allah,” he declared.
Doguwa also emphasized his unblemished record in the Parliament, boasting of over 33 years of dedicated service without any suspension or misconduct. He credited his peaceful nature and commitment to his duties as key to his long-standing relationships with constituents, traditional rulers, clerics, and security agencies.
“My loyalty and dedication to my principals have never been in question. I have always served with diligence, humility, and utmost respect.
Today, I am the longest-serving member in the country, and I am committed to continuing my service under the leadership of the 10th House of Representatives, led by Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen,” Doguwa concluded.
