Aletor Jordan Obehi popularly known as DJ Venum has opened a great chapter in the history of the music industry in Nigeria as a top-notch Disc Jockey who brings something unique to the table when he is behind his wheel of steel, strutting his stuff to the delight of his audience.
Interestingly, he was not a DJ some years back. According to him, his journey in the entertainment space began as a rap artist before fate took him behind the wheel to find a calling that must have been hiding in his DNA.
“I felt Disc jockeying is really easy to catch up with, even if you have zero knowledge about music. I also love the fact that it is flexible, it makes you do other side hustles. I was once a rapper and I did some couple of songs before switching lanes. And trust me, whenever the inspiration comes, I will definitely hit the studio for recordings,” he said.
DJ Venum said he grew up in an environment where music was the foundation. His father is a creative artist cum instrumentalist who had a huge influence on his musical orientation.
“My father is a creative artist and a professional musician. That gives me more inspiration on how to become a better person.
The Disc Jockey was born in Eti-Osa, Lagos but originally from Esan, Edo State. He went to Ireti Grammar School, Ikoyi, Lagos and later gained admission in Yaba College of Technology.
“Creativity runs in my family and I am the first born of my parents,” he said.
In secondary school, he was a rapper and a confessed studio rat. At the same time, he developed a keen interest in deejaying. As fate would have it, he was transferred from the studio section at Bogobiri to the deejaying section. This is how his DJ career started.
