Days after returning to his US base, Nigerian born US-based disc Jockey, Adebayo Olanrewaju Adeniyan, popularly known as Dj bbest, has described his recent visit to Nigeria as unforgettable, saying he was already considering the idea of returning to Nigeria again for another major gig.
With a strong desire to see that Nigerian musicians raise their game to compete with their counterparts in other developed countries, DJ bbest said he was moved with the level of commitment and determination of many Nigerian artistes, adding that he would continue to contribute to the development of Nigerian acts and their music.
DJ bbest who is famous in the US for his dexterity on the wheel of steel was in the country to be part of the just concluded Lagos Play party that took him to several top night clubs in Lagos such as DPlace by Papas Lekki, Club 57, Club Rumors Ikeja, Cova Vi.
According to DJ bbest who is passionate about the growth of Afro-beat, “I have always wanted to be a DJ, I remember cutting cassettes and taping them together, I was also by the deck at friends parties while growing up. So all these things prepared me for where I am today, and that’s why I want to use my vast understanding of the job to help Nigerian musicians conquer Africa and the world at large.
“My mission is to see afro-beat music grow abroad and I want Nigerians, who are the pioneers of this genre to benefit largely from it.
On how his disc jockey career has fared in the last few years, DJ bbest said he taken his trade to different cities such as Manchester , London, Kent, Glasgow, Dundee, Dublin, Atlanta US, Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana and Chicago where he has been for two years.”
