Oja Oba/Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State has put an end to the 10-year-old wedlock between a couple, Kamorudeen Babalola and Iyabo Babalola.
Kamorudeen who brought a divorce suit against his wife at the court alleged that she was full of vices.
Explaining further, he stated that she was troublesome, promiscuous and had once attempted to take his life and that of her step children.
He thus pleaded with the court to terminate their relationship before she killed him and destroyed his home.
Iyabo, responding, agreed to divorce.
Kamorudeen giving details of his wife’s atrocities stated that:”My lord, I want Iyabo out of my life and home. I don’t want to see her ever again in my life. If she returns to my house today, then I’m a dead man.
“I’ve tolerated Iyabo enough but can no longer bear with her any more.
“Iyabo is skilled in stealing. She’s used to ransacking my room looking for my money to steal. She will steal my money and display much concern when I announce it is missing. She will pretend to be searching for it by turning our bed and furniture upside. She will go as far as looking inside pots and water containers which infuriates me.

“My wife never ceases to fight me. She has made life unbearable for me and turned our home into a fighting arena.
“Hardly do two days pass without us fighting. She would raise dust over trivial issues and turn it into a fight.
“She doesn’t fear that I’m a man. My wife will argue with me and shout on top of her voice. Not yet done, she will pounce on me pushing, pulling and hitting me. To end it all, Iyabo will tear my clothes into shreds.
“I have learnt to restrain myself from acting harshly any time she picks a fight with me because I don’t want to commit murder.
“Iyabo has gone to the extent of drawing a knife at me during a fight. She would have killed me if I didn’t take to my heels. My lord, this is the knife she aimed at me (he presented the knife before the court).”
Kamorudeen stated in addition that:”My wife is promiscuous. My lord, living with an unfaithful wife is the surest way to die.
“Iyabo brings home her concubines whenever I’m out of town and defiles our bed. I have confronted her over this issue but she has always denied it.
“She almost killed herself when she aborted a pregnancy belonging to one of her lovers who deserted her after impregnating her.
“I was the one carrying her from one hospital to the other and spent a meaningful amount as her medical fee.
“Rather than being grateful, my wife plotted to wipe out my heritage. She attempted to poison my children from another woman (that is my first wife.)
“Iyabo poured poison into the jug of water her step children drink from. She would have succeeded in throwing my home into sorrow if she had not been caught in the act.
“My lord, my prayer this morning is that you separate us before she ruins my life, “the plaintiff said.
“I can’t wait to be set free from the bondage called marriage which I went into with him. I’m totally in support of the court ending our marriage, “Iyabo stated.
“Kamorudeen accused me of infidelity but he’s the unfaithful one. My husband runs after everything in skirt. He bears no regard for age and cares less if they were old as his mother or as young as our first child.
“My husband is cruel. He would impregnate me and insist I abort the pregnancy not minding the ordeal I go through.
“My lord, he lied that I steal his money. Kamorudeen is a drunk and comes home late. He loses his bearing and staggers home after drinking bottles of alcohol at joints.
“He loses his money when staggering home.
“My lord, he lied that I tore his clothes or attempted to kill him and his children. I’m not a murderer and can never hurt a fly, “she concluded.
Giving his judgment after he had heard both parties, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade stated that their relationship had broken down irrevocably.
Ruling, he dissolved their wedlock and granted the plaintiff custody of their two children.
The plaintiff was ordered to give the defendant N3, 000 to pack her belongings out of his house.
