GOVERNOR Samuel Ortom of Benue state once again debunked the rumour of leaving the ruling party, All Progressive Congress, APC as being speculated.

Ortom who spoke with newsmen yesterday to commemorate the Democracy day said that those behind the rumor were his political enemies who wanted him out at all cost.

The governor lamented that challenges stalled his administration from delivering the desired dividends of democracy to his people as promised during his campaign.

“In the last three years, we have worked assidously to keep the contract we had with you, the promise I made to be the governor of all and to govern with the fear of God.

“Though many challenges and giants have stood in our way to prevent us from delivering on the promises.”

He however said that despite the numerous challenges, his administration was able to construct some roads and improved in health facilities as well as other sectors.

While answering questions from newsmen on the chances of president Muhammad Buhari victory in Benue state in the next election, Ortom said that his chance depends on how he tilts his interest towards the interest of Benue people.

Ortom said in politics, there is no permanent enemy or permanent friend but permanent interest.

“If his (Buhari) interest is in line with the interest of people of Benue and he ask them for their vote, they will vote him, likewise my own, if my interest is in line with the people they will vote for me.”

“But one thing I want you to know is that the herdsmen/farmers clashes predate this government, so it will be a fallacy to conclude that herdsmen killings in the state be linked to Buhari.”

“There are some Fulanis who support the anti open grazing law but the real enemy is Kautal Hore, this is the violence group, we know them,” the governor said.
